While walking through the quiet streets of Turin, under soft lights and timeless facades, I met a Ukrainian girl traveling alone. A tourist, yes — but there was something more in her presence: a quiet awareness, a natural grace in the way she moved through the city.
I photographed her. But what emerged was more than just a portrait — it became a testimony.
This project was born from the meeting of two gazes: mine, behind the lens, and hers, turned toward the world and, at the same time, inward. In every shot, I tried to capture a kind of beauty that doesn’t seek to please others — but rather to remind oneself of their own worth. A beauty that is both fragile and powerful, conscious and deeply personal.
In a time that too often teaches us to hide behind filters and façades, valuing yourself is a quiet rebellion. To recognize your own beauty — in your features, in your silences, in the way you walk or gaze at a new city — is a way of saying: “I exist. And I matter.”
